PAUL STARRS:

Paul qualified from the University of Glasgow with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree in 1988. He moved to London in 1992 and spent three years working as the in-house dentist for JP Morgan, before moving to a Clinic in the West-End. Paul went on to become a director of BUPA’s dental body corporate whilst working as the Principle Dentist in their Baker Street Clinic before setting up the Clinic in Strawberry Hill.

Post-graduate education Paul completed the year course in advanced restorative dentistry with Michael Wise, one of the most respected dentists in the world, and continued as a member of Michael’s study group for a further three years. He received his most significant education in aesthetic dentistry from the New York based Rosenthal Institute, and to this day he works closely on his aesthetic cases with Adrian Jurim, the New York Ceramist who created the porcelain veneer technique. Paul received his tooth-whitening education from Dr Van Haywood, the American professor who introduced the dental bleaching technique to the world, and at the time of writing, he is studying with the Anglo-American, International Partnership for the Study of Occlusion.

Paul is a member of the British Dental Association, The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and a founder member of the Independent Association of Cosmetic Dentists. He is on the editorial board of Private Dentistry Magazine.

SUSAN STARRS:

Susan, originally from Cork, is a fully qualified theatre nurse and in recent years has held a Sister’s post in both the Portland Hospital and Harley Street’s London Clinic; she has enjoyed several years taking care of A-list celebrities and Royalty. Whilst her official role here is that of Clinical Director, she will often work either chairside or behind the reception desk, as and when the need arises.

Years of working in operating theatres has helped Susan develop an enviably calm nature, and each of the other team members admit to feeling more relaxed when she’s in the vicinity; this quality coupled to her untamed wit make her indispensable.

CLAUDIA VON ZAPPLETAL:

Claudia works as dental surgery assistant to Paul. Originally from Germany, where she is qualified as a dental hygienist, Claudia has enjoyed working with many of the U.K.’s most respected specialists. Her close attention to detail makes her invaluable, and Paul describes her as “probably the best dental nurse in the world”.

A business woman in her own right, Claudia has her own dental recruitment agency; working hands-on in Strawberry Hill, though, helps keep her tuned-in, and having a good eye for aesthetics, she finds it very fulfilling.

SUSAN CAMPBELL:

Practice consultant, Susan oversees the day-to-day smooth running of the Clinic. Having been a model, she has a direct interest in beauty enhancement, and so feels very much at home in this setting.

Several years working as Casting Director for Thames Television have developed Susan’s interpersonal skills. Her move into consultancy came as a natural progression and immediately before being headhunted to join the Clinic, Susan was involved in the launch of a new American medical device for the Harley Medical Group in the UK and Ireland.
